DUUUVAL TIL WE DIE
Jag bros, we are live on YouTube. We're gonna try something different going forward, and that is to get to record these live. Most likely we're gonna try to shoot for Monday night. Most Monday nights, give or take, somewhere around 9 p.m. Eastern, sometimes a little bit earlier, maybe occasionally a little bit later. And uh obviously next week we'll start breaking down week one, but a lot going on in Jags news. Jags have cut down their rostered 53 men, uh, 53 Warriors, 53 great players, the Super Bowl team. Uh, but we're gonna start on the offensive side of the ball, break down the offense and uh break down by room. So quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight ends. I should say who we are. We're our three brothers, lifelong Jags fans, and uh we've been doing this now for a couple years. Love talking Jags ball with you. Before we get into, we'll start with Trevor in the quarterback room. But obviously, preseason's done, cuts have been made, final roster. What are your kind of big picture thoughts right now on the Jags team?
SPEAKER_01I have a thought. Joey, they were listening to you. Those that listen to you, I think James Gladstone or somebody in the uh the office was was listening to to you, Joey, because you outlined exactly who you wanted to do it and you you outlined the plan. So talk about that.
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah. Well, uh, we traded for uh Quentin Ewers uh from Miami. I just went through like possible quarterbacks. You would want to go younger because you already had Nick Mullins, and you didn't really want to go the old route, I felt like. Uh and it was honestly him. I thought uh Sam Elling uh out of the different Broncos there, like quarterback three was pretty good. Uh but yeah, they went out and got Quentin Ewers. He was really good for Texas, uh, was able to hold off Archie Manning, which granted nowadays isn't as big of an accomplishment as everyone thought. Well, I mean he was Quentin Ewers better. Uh everyone thought that Manning would take over at UT, but he he didn't. And he's really efficient. I wouldn't say that he is like uh got the talent of Trevor or really the like pinpoint accuracy, but he's really efficient and he's a check down guy, but that's kind of what you want with a second string guy. So uh yeah, I'm very happy. Better than Nick Mullins.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, he's gone. That's the thing. He's obviously not going to be competing for a job, but hopefully your your season doesn't fall off the rails if you miss Trevor for a couple of drives or for a game or two. Whereas Nick Mullins looked like he had nothing left in the tank.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. No, yeah. He I mean he didn't have the arm strength, he wasn't driving down driving the ball down the field, and it just felt like he held the ball like way too long when you gotta be decisive, especially as like a second string guy. You kind of just gotta let it go. You don't want to hold it, and it you are dealing with usually a worse offensive line and everything, so you gotta be even faster, not slower.
SPEAKER_00Love it. Well, uh, I just texted our family unit, so uh hopefully a few of them will pop in the comments. I'll try to check from time to time. One of the reasons we wanted to do live is give y'all an opportunity to interact. We love Jags fans, so uh, I'll try to check our comments from time to time. Hopefully, and we didn't announce it, so I don't know if we'll have anyone show, but hopefully, as we get a regular rhythm, uh, we'll get some fans to pop on and say hey. But uh it feels like a great way to start, of course, is the quarterback room, Trevor Lawrence coming into year six, which is crazy. Uh, feels like it wasn't that long ago that we were celebrating the Jags losing to get the number one pick to get Trevor Lawrence, and obviously up and downs, um, some good years, some bad years. But the crazy thing is, you know, when we're talking about backup quarterback, Trevor Lawrence has played at least 16 games every season but one. So he is the Iron Man, knock on wood. Uh, he needs to stay healthy. But this also, when the first time you're talking about Trevor Lawrence going into back-to-back years with the same head coach, which is rare, uh, same play caller, same offense coordinator. Even when you had Doug Peterson for a couple years, like you had Doug P calling plays, and then Press Taylor, and all that's a mess. You finally get, okay, Liam Cohen's the guy, he's a great coach. What are your expectations, Trevor Lawrence? How good is he going to be this year for the Jags?
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, he he is going to be the offense. Uh you surround him with a really talented wide receiver room, and the fact that he doesn't have to have a wide receiver one, his job pretty much is going to be spread the ball around. You have Strange, who is a very solid catching tight end. You went out and got Koziel, who is your 6'7, just absolute jump ball guy uh in the tight end. You have BTJ, you have Parker Washington, Jacoby Myers, Travis Hunter, Josh Cameron, the rookie. Uh, like you have all these really good guys. So his job is going to be making sure the defenses don't know who the ball's going to. Make sure he doesn't focus in on one guy, get through all your reads when you have that many uh people to throw it to. So that's going to be his biggest thing is maturing and being able to get through three or four reads.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, you look at Trevor last year, up and down, which kind of been the story where he seems to have half the year not great, and then the other half great. That's what he was last year. He kind of up and down. I mean, I remember an episode after that Houston debacle where I'm like, bench Trevor, he's not the guy, and went on a long rant. So I'll apologize again, yet again, Trevor. I don't mean it. Delete that episode. But you look at those last six games. I was pulling this, I mean, just insane numbers. 15 passing touchdowns, only one interception, four rushing touchdowns. You're talking about almost 20 touchdowns in six games, more than three touchdowns a game and only one interception. But then, you know, the playoff game, which we were all at in Jacksonville against the Bills, was kind of mixed back, Trevor. 18 for 30, 207 yards, three touchdowns, two picks, still had uh six carries for 31 yards. Do you think we see elite MVP finalists Trevor? That we saw those last six games, or like what do you see coming out of the gate for Trev?
SPEAKER_01I think there's no reason why we shouldn't. There's no reason why we shouldn't. Uh he's he he progressively got better. And and look, for those that have been listening to us for a long time, we've been talking about this continually, even in some of the past administrations. You could squint and see that Trevor was getting better. He was getting better at high-leverage downs and situations, third down, fourth down. He's getting better in the red zone. Now, some of that's play calling. I think Liam Cohen is a wizard when it comes to some of the play designs and his ability to essentially create points uh with some of the play designs. One of my favorites last year is when we had Etienne and Tutin in the backfield, and we basically send both of them out wide to the left, putting the the linebacker in conflict around the seven or eight yard line, and we score a touchdown there. That's a tough place to score a touchdown. There's been plenty of Jaguars teams through the years where you get to the seven-yard line, you pretty much guarantee yourself you can't get a field goal. So, um, or turning over the ball. So he obviously reduced the turnovers. The Jaguars' offensive line, which we'll talk about more in depth later, I'd say is average to above average. Uh and Trevor seems to be reading the field better. There's no reason why Trevor should not be a top five quarterback and this should not be a top five offense next year. I think you have a lot of the things going right. And also, like, spoiler alert for next week when we talk about the defense, I think the defense is average to potentially below average. So I think you're gonna you're gonna have to see the team scoring 25 plus points on a lot of these games.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. And the quarterback, I like Trevor, I don't think actually had that bad of a first half last year. A lot of it was drop balls by all the wide receivers. It was also, I mean, at the beginning of the season, BTJ was the number one wide receiver, and the offense was run through him, and he had his drop moments, and then number two was Deomi Brown, who never even made the field, and then you had Travis Hunter who was still learning the offense, and so like it just didn't feel quite put together yet, and it wasn't until they got Jacoby Myers that it felt like everything was okay, we finally have the puzzle like together, and now Trevor can can run the offense. So I see it being a very similar offense. Uh I think Tutan is going to be very similar to ETN last year. You didn't get to see a lot of Tutin's breakout speed and jukes because they ran him up the middle a ton last year. I think they're gonna move him more of the outside, especially with LaQuent, seems to be hurt right now. I think Tutin's gonna get some more catches, maybe even a little more on the uh third downs, and then uh Chris Rodriguez is gonna be your up the middle, hard running back, and then uh the guy that a lot of people didn't think was gonna make the team. The running back number four. Oh, what's his name? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Amir Abdullah. I got notes today. We got Amir Abdullah, 33 years old, which is ancient for running back, which is my Amir Abdullah.
SPEAKER_02But he uh he's had a great offseason and has kind of been oh, the Quint hurt. He's gonna he's gonna get some playing time in these first couple games, I think. And he looked good in the preseason, he put people on skates, he's still quick, he can still break tackles. So uh excited to see kind of what he can do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, all right. I got two questions for y'all thinking about Trevor. So I think agree or disagree with this statement, I think Trevor Lawrence is finally adequately rated right now across the NFL landscape. I feel like you've had a lot of times where he, you know, coming out of 2022, he's the next guy, he's gonna be in the borough Mahomes, and then the next two years, he's overrated, he's a bust. To me, you're finally, most people would say he's a tier two quarterback. He's not in the elite, but he's in the very good. And then my question is to y'all, maybe slightly biased, but I mean, give me your thoughts. Like, are you do you think he's closer to tier one, the upper echelon, or tier three, kind of the average quarterback right now?
SPEAKER_01To me, he his peak is is as good as anyone's, but it's the consistency. Even in the even in the um the playoff game, there were moments where uh obviously the turnover at the end of the game, there are moments where you you're you're you're you're not winning the game because of Trevor. Um, and so like can he put the team fully on his back like a Mahomes or a Brady or uh a Joe Burrow and win despite the fact that the rest of the team is is really struggling. I haven't seen that done, or at least haven't seen that done consistently with Trevor. If he's able to do that, like if you're really striking, like if you have two minutes to go and you have to go 80 yards, the other team feels like you have a less than 50% chance of winning against Tom Brady, against Mahomes, against some of those guys. With with with Lawrence, I think you still are there's still question marks. You feel like you have a you you you like your odds.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean, he definitely was that type of quarterback in 2022. I think a lot of our games that we won that year was because of Trevor. I mean, how many last minute drives did he have where were either tied or needed uh to score and he drove down and won it? And I want to say that year was probably Trevor's most passionate year. I I would like to see him become a little more leadership, a little more passion, and you see that when he gets to run the ball, and I thought that was a huge thing last year, he needs to be like when we lost against the Chiefs, he was a guy in the tunnel, shaking everyone's hand, like dying to get back out there. And you kind of see it with Patrick Mahomes back when he was really, really good. He had that fire, and I feel like in the last couple of years, when he's not been as good as he's been, he seems a little complacent, doesn't have that same fire and everything. And I think that's really important for a quarterback uh to be able to be that guy that ascends above the team is you have to be that fire, and I do worry that Trevor may not have that consistently enough.
SPEAKER_00Fair. Yeah, I mean his rushing ability is huge. Think back. I mean, you talked about the Chiefs game in 2022 in the playoffs. The Monday night game that Joey, you and I were watching on uh the big screen here in Dallas.
SPEAKER_02Cosm.
SPEAKER_00Cosm, that's it. Yeah, it was an awesome experience, and like a hundred like ninety eight percent Chiefs fans, and we were repping the Jags gear with our other five Jags fans here in Dallas. But uh, I mean, what what helped win the game was on offense Trevor's legs. So that's a big part for sure. Just kind of wrapping up the quarterback room, and then JT, you take us into the wide receivers and tight ends. Uh so Joey, you already talked about Quinn Ewers, he's gonna be the backup. You just traded a sixth round 2028 sixth-round pick. He uh played for Texas, as you said, seventh round pick, but solid stats for Miami last year as a rookie for the Dolphins. Uh, and then you're really only going to carry two quarterbacks. Carter Bradley's on IR. And fortunately, a guy who had a nice preseason, Joey Aguilar for Tennessee. Some Jags fans really liked him, just was announced today. He's back on the practice squad. So uh again, Trevor's been super consistent in terms of health. So knock on wood, you feel great there. You get a solid ideal backup in Quinn Ewers, who I think is just your game manager. Think ceiling, Gardner Minshew, think four CJ Bethard uh Jags fans. But uh, you get a young, potential, long-term guy in Joey Aguilar on the practice squad. But uh, we already hinted at the wide receiver room's gonna be awesome. So, JT, where do you kind of want to start with Jags receivers?
SPEAKER_01So I want to put a little oak here for for Jaguars receivers and tight ends on on some yards. But before we do that, I'd love to hear from your perspective. This is a top three unit, top five unit, top ten unit. How high are we going with this team?
SPEAKER_00We're talking offense or wide receivers?
SPEAKER_01Wide receiver plus tight end.
SPEAKER_02I would say are we encompassing because sometimes you see like, oh, just wide receiver one, wide receiver two, are we doing the full room?
SPEAKER_01Wide receiver one, two, three plus tight end. One, two, three plus tight end.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so I would put probably fifth best wide receiver room. Um just because I I I don't know of anyone that really has that a better wide receiver three than us. Like I think there are people who have better wide receiver ones and twos. Like you look at the Cowboys with CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, you look at Bengals, of course. Yeah, Bengals, Jason Higgins. But I mean, can you tell me who the third wide receiver is on any of those teams? Revolving door, yeah, for the Bengals at least.
SPEAKER_00But you got Jacoby Myers here, so similar for tight end, too, to be fair, for a lot of those teams. I I think uh I mean I'm extremely optimistic on the receiver and tight end room. So I lean closer to three, where yeah, you you gotta give the Bengals the nod. Uh you know, maybe the Cowboys are better.
SPEAKER_01Who Lions.
SPEAKER_00Lions, Lions, Laporta, Amon Ra. Yeah, James.
SPEAKER_01I mean, Jameson Williams, yeah, Jameson Williams and Amon Rainbow. Average at best. Okay, that's a hot take.
SPEAKER_02Jameson Williams is as good as Jacoby Myers.
SPEAKER_01Uh that's another hot take. Jameson Williams is a top 10 fantasy uh player last year, and he's he was an He's always hurt and is when he's on the field, he's amazing. Like, I I disagree. And then I'd take Laporta, obviously, over Yeah, Laporta and Armand is very good. And Tesla, I think, is is is an up and coming guy. So like I'd put them up there. I think the uh the Patriots room could be sneaky good uh this year with some of the acting.
SPEAKER_02Who who is on their team other than AJ Brown?
SPEAKER_01AJ Brown's uh obviously very good. They traded away boo uh boot uh booty. Booty. And they have um I think they have Al Williams, who's solid. And then I wouldn't go that far.
SPEAKER_00They have uh who's uh let's stick to Jags here, because that's what we're talking about.
SPEAKER_01Uh anyway, so Jaguars. Okay, I like that top three to five. So let's let's let's go let's go. I think all of us would say Parker is is most likely gonna be the leading receiver barring injuries, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's Armals St. Brown.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so over under uh let's go 1050. So last year he had 847. Most of that was in the second half of the year and five touchdowns. Over under 1,050 for uh Parker Washington.
SPEAKER_02I have him at push pretty much exactly 1050.
SPEAKER_01Okay, Jack.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I have him just under. I actually wrote my numbers here. I think he's gonna have a career year. Uh I think he hits a thousand. But I mean, I'm a believer in 7-Eleven. BTJ 7 and P Wash number 11 always open. And it's hard. Like if they're both gonna go for around a thousand, it's hard to see either one going significantly or even 50 over a thousand. I think I have BTJ as the slight leader in terms of yards. I think Parker Washington's probably the better fantasy option, especially in a PPR league. Like, just because BTJ's probably gonna hopefully, like, if he's back to you know what we've seen and in all reports is that he's had a good year. But yeah, again, Parker Washington, you look at those last several games. Listen to this last three games, six catches, 145 yards in a touchdown versus the Broncos, one of the best defenses in the league, eight catches, 115 yards versus the Colts who stink, but uh five catches, 87 yards in a touchdown versus the Titans, who also stink. But then he was clearly wide receiver one in the playoffs, seven catches, 107 yards in a touchdown. There's a reason he's one of the hottest names in fantasy football, and he's going, which we've talked about before, like going for a contract year. He's hungry to prove it. He clearly has insane chemistry with Trevor. So um, I think he he's gonna get the most targets. Who gets the most yards? I have the hot take of I think BTJ does get the most amount of yards, but Parker Washington gets the most catches.
SPEAKER_01That's so I I love Parker this year. I think he's he could get almost 1200. So if he's gonna be on law, Joey, by the way, Jamison went back to back 1,000 yards receiving, including 1,100 yards last year. And that was uh who was not not any good.
SPEAKER_02But uh I just said he I wouldn't put him as high as you have him.
SPEAKER_01You said he's average, he's clearly better than all the.
SPEAKER_02There's a lot of wide receivers that hit a thousand yards because they're the only target, then all of a sudden the next year they suck. I mean, because they're not actually that good.
SPEAKER_01Well, he wasn't the number one target. And he's not even their number one target. Anyways, Parker Washington, I think, could have a Jamison Williams-like year uh with with the the amount of yards and and potentially touchdowns as well. So I like him for 1200. Uh so it's interesting, Jack. You're way high on Brian Thomas Jr. Last year he had 700 yards receiving, only played 14 of the 17 games. Let's make it 850 for Brian Thomas Jr. over under. Jack, uh, it sounds like you're going over. Joey, uh, where are you going with this?
SPEAKER_02I have it over. I am actually on the exact same boat as Jack. I think that BTJ actually may have more yards by the end of the year. But like in a PPR league, I think you're gonna see Parker Washington eight catches for 80 to 100 yards. Uh but BTJ, you're gonna see boom or bust. You're gonna see like three catches, but for like 120 yards and like two touch, like he's gonna be kind of almost um oh shoot, who is the Eagles wide receiver that loved so much. Uh Deshaun Jackson.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Deshaun Jackson, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Where you may see uh 90 yard absolute bomb to BTJ. Uh I think uh Liam Cohen has talked about taking it down the field more often, taking shots. I I I could see a huge uptick for BTJ bombs this year.
SPEAKER_01Interesting question. I I think the under.
SPEAKER_00You're always a hater on BTJ.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I'll I'll believe it when I see it. And yes, I was wrong.
SPEAKER_00One of the greatest rookie seasons ever. I hear you.
SPEAKER_01When were you asleep for that season? I was followed by well, he also had a different quarterback. Him and Trevor don't seem to be on the same page very often. And maybe and that's part of why I feel like he But I think that's changed a lot this offseason. Maybe. But Parker is what like everything that you see in camp, all this stuff is he's always looking for Parker at high leverage moments. He did it in the playoffs, he did it in the Broncos game, he did it at the times that that that you need him to. I I think I think BTJ finishes in the 750 range, which is why I have Parker so high.
SPEAKER_00Um that would be such a massive disappointment.
SPEAKER_02Because like you're talking about but but you're also talking about like Trevor going to him in these like hard moments. Hey, guess who Trevor went to in these hard moments? Zay Jones. Like those people don't usually get like a ton of yards. You're looking at like a six yard.
SPEAKER_01Exactly.
SPEAKER_02Well, what I'm saying is like these these critical moments are like for six yards. I'm talking BTJ is your it's second and two, take a shot, and you just had a sixty-yard catch. Like I think he may not get as many targets and everything, but the targets he will get will be down the field, giant play, field swapping plays.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I think I like look, I think last year was the worst case scenario, and if he was healthy, you're still talking about three more games somewhere in the 800, 850 yards. Clearly, one he was not mentally or physically ready to be the wide receiver one. There was just a lot going on. There was all these rumors at the time, which was annoying that Trevor throws hospital balls, that he they tried to change him up where he's playing over the middle of the field all the time. And then once you get in your head about, hey, I can't drop this ball, I can't drop this ball, I can't drop this ball, what are you thinking about? You're thinking about dropping the ball. And I think he's had a reset. Jacoby Myers, to your point, Joey was the perfect veteran to bring in to unlock this a super young wide receiver room. You're talking about uh BTJ 23, Parker Washington 24, and Travis Hunter, who I'm sure we'll talk about in a second, too, is 22, 23 years old. So having a veteran was huge. BTJ wasn't ready to be the guy that and he doesn't have to be. Like, I think that's the beauty of the system is he doesn't have to be this alpha dog 12 to 15 target guy, he can be six to eight targets, but big plays, win on the outside, get back to where he was dominant his rookie year. Again, I don't think you'll see that level of production.
SPEAKER_01If you look down the so here's why I'm because he only had 700 last year, but he missed games. However, we added Jacoby Myers. And since we added Jacoby Myers, the stats he put up, he put up 87 against the the Colts, which includes that long 39-yard touchdown that you guys talked about. But then he went 18, 39, 49, and uh 21 in the playoffs, including a touchdown.
SPEAKER_02So And but that was him still like earning his spot back, I felt like like the coaching staff didn't fully trust him after dropping the ball a bunch at the beginning of the year. He's definitely earned the trust back this offseason. I've heard nothing but praises.
SPEAKER_01Uh he's like nothing about praises from Jags Train.
SPEAKER_00That's it's a good point because the last two offseasons. No, like it's a big right here. The first his rookie offseason, everyone was getting on. I mean, I can go back to that episode two years ago. Y'all were like, I've been vindicated, he's a bust, he's terrible, like he's dropping all these, and then he goes out and dominates, and you're like, Oh, forget about practice. This guy's a gamer, he's awesome. And even year two, they're like, Oh, he's having a bad training camp, but don't worry about that. He's amazing, he's awesome. He put up one of the best rookie years ever, and then he's terrible. And you're like, Okay, he's dropping everything. Maybe we should have been worried. And now all the coaching staff's like, he's doing great, he's doing everything we've asked. And him and Travis Hunter have put on weight, they put on muscle. Um, they don't ever weigh guys anymore after combine, so you we don't really know, but he just looks bigger, which is important because he was scared of contact. So, what's one way to get over it other than getting hit a bunch? Is put on weight, put on muscle.
SPEAKER_02So, um, yeah, I mean he was definitely scared of contact, but it's also they moved him more in the slot at the beginning of the year, and as much as people want to, you know, oh, like you play slot or you play outside, you can get really pigeonholed, and it can be hard to make that move going from like corner to safety. You would think, oh, I mean you're still playing D back, but it can be an entirely different thing, or a cornerback from the outside to a cornerback, a nickel cornerback, like a small change, but it can really change a lot of things. I think he had an issue with making a lot of what people talked about when we drafted him. He doesn't have that comprehensive route tree, and as a slot guy, it is all about the route, cutting it off right at the right exact time, being there at the right moment. Whereas if you're a fade guy, uh it doesn't matter as much as being right in the right spot because you're gonna make an adjustment to the ball, you're gonna have more time to kind of get under it and everything, so it can be a completely different thing, and I just don't think he was ready or maybe is even fit to be a slot guy.
SPEAKER_00All right. Well, I gotta give a shout out, and y'all can keep talking BTJ or Jacoby because uh sorry, Long John Silver. He just said, is this live or pre-recorded? I haven't been watching uh the comments, but he said he thinks Jacoby's gonna have a super good year. He said BTJ should stay outside the hash, he could be our moss. Let's go ahead and talk Jacoby Myers, Long John Silver. Thanks for being our first uh YouTube comment. You're the man, even though I don't love y'all Long John Silver as the restaurant, but we love Jack's.
SPEAKER_01Okay, maybe he's the pirate. But uh yeah, I was about to take us to Jacoby Myers. I agree with Long John Silver there. I also am higher on Jacoby Myers. I set the over under. I was gonna set it 800, but you guys are so high on uh on uh BTJ. Uh uh set it for 750. I over for everybody. I think I think I think uh Jacoby has uh more yards than Brian Thomas. Uh he was had five almost 500 yards in the nine games that he played for us this past year.
SPEAKER_02I got the under on Jacoby Myers. I have not heard his name really once this offseason. I think he's going to be a security blanket. He's gonna do a lot of the hard stuff of like slants getting hit for the five-yard catch, getting that first down, Zay Jones-esque type, Marvin Jones Jr uh Jones Jr. or senior. Uh the the wide receiver three guy, he's gonna get probably about 600, maybe 700 yards. I think he could be a end zone target though, because I think people are going to go after Washington and BTJ, leaving Myers open uh in the end zone. But I don't think he's gonna get a ton of stuff over the middle, or uh I'm not over the middle, but in the middle of the field.
SPEAKER_00Long John Silver said that's not why it's his name, so my bad. But um, you can tell us in the comments. I I'm gonna go just under. And it is the predictions are always hard because the the great thing about Jacoby, we've already said, is he's Mr. Reliable. He is Mr. Juggs machine, he doesn't drop like BTJ is hot and cold. You've seen one of the best seasons in a brutally bad season that all of a sudden there's trade rumors all the time, and I'm just hoping no trade rumors for my boy BTJ. I'm rocking his jersey tonight, but um Ian Parker Washington, right? Took a while to get those opportunities and explode. Jacoby's just been consistent. So if you do have injuries, if Travis Hunter takes an injury, if Brenton Stranger, BTJ takes an injury, the numbers gonna go up. But assuming everyone's healthy, I have it slightly under. I think those three guys are gonna be dominant. I think you're gonna see 25 to 2700 of Trevor's passing yards be these three guys, and I think he's going closer to 4,500. But I have Jacoby, if everyone stays healthy, right around 700 yards, so about where he is most seasons. So um, not significantly under. I think he's gonna be important. I think he's he brings more to the table that doesn't even show up on the field. The intangibles is what helped unlock the offense. They needed a leader in that wide receiver room. He is at there's a reason the Jags signed him so quickly. They didn't just make the move, they signed him quickly, extended him. So he really, and this is why I love the room so much. I know I'm way too high. I know I I'm drinking the teal Kool-Aid, but I love this room because it feels like these guys fit so well. You've got a great veteran, you've got a great guy in Parker who can excel in the slot, who can be this uh just shifty guy that gets open, that can make people miss. He's a punt returner, kick returner. You got this speed demon in BTJ, and then you've got the wild card in Travis Hunter that is when he's on the field on offense, is gonna draw a lot of attention. So I just think it's the best design room yet for the Jags in a long time.
SPEAKER_01And that's a perfect segue to Travis Hunter. So last last year he only played seven games, targeted 45 times, including that one game against the Bengals where it felt like he was targeted like 11 times. Uh he had 300 yards just under 298 yards, including the long 44 yard uh reception. I'm going to actually bump this up a little bit to 350, because I think all of us uh think that Travis Hunter will get more offensive playing time than folks are saying, especially toward the end of the season. I would not be surprised if we start him slow in the offense and start utilizing that as a secret weapon. But I'm gonna set the overunder at 375 for Travis Hunter uh this year. Are you guys taking the over on that or under?
SPEAKER_00Man, I you like or looking at my notes, Sh. I like almost all these are identical. I have it just over. I'm gonna let Joey talk about him more. I have him at about 400 yards. Uh, but Joey has a Travis Hunter jersey. I want him to talk, but I want to give another shout out. We got our second, we're rolling now. PJ Brown shouting with a doom all on here. So thanks, PJ Brown. Let us know your thoughts too. But Joe, talk some Travis Hunter.
SPEAKER_02I have Travis Hunter around 450 to close to 500 yards. Um and I think it's gonna be more in the fact of being able to turn screens into giant plays with his juke moves and his ability to be shifty. I think that he's not gonna get a ton of offense. Uh it's gonna be more than Agnew, but Agne-esque. Uh maybe even like uh Percy Harvin type esque, where you're gonna see probably not a lot of long developing routes. It's gonna be a lot of uh screens, it's gonna be a lot of drags or something just to get him the ball and get moving because he does just have this innate ability to make everyone miss, to turn a play that isn't a giant play into possibly a touchdown. So I could see him getting not a ton of targets, but being able to take them for uh quite a bit. So I got yeah, I have him about 450 yards.
SPEAKER_01So they talk about the NFL as a matchup league. And every single game you'll see these different coordinators, especially the good ones, are actually tailoring their offense and their gameplay to the opponents they're playing against. Travis Hunter is the ace in the hole. That is like such a great weapon to have offensively that you are most likely not even gonna show, especially if you don't need to in the month of September. I would take the under for like the whatever the average per game thing is for the month of September. But I think in November and December, you're gonna see him a lot. I think you're right about the screens, but I would not be surprised if we line him up in the backfield and he's doing wheel routes to try to take advantage of a matchup against a linebacker, or if we put him in other um interesting formations that that are trying to take advantage of somebody's third or maybe even fourth best coverage person, he's gonna cook them. And so it's really gonna put uh defenders in conflict. Uh, so I love what you can do with him, but I think because our drop off defensively is so remote, like so bad on the uh corner, you need him to be that top 10 corner that we've seen him in Colorado. If he lives up to that, I don't think I agree. I liked your Agnew point. I think he will be similar to Agnew. 375 feels about right. I might take a slight over just because I think we're gonna see him in a lot more offensively uh when we need him the most coming down the street. Later on in playoffs. Which that's such a good point.
SPEAKER_00Can you imagine Travis Hunter on a CB4? He's gonna destroy them. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Yes. And I wouldn't also say that we're a total drop-off on cornerback because we do have Jarian, who from all accounts has had a great offseason. Um practice.
SPEAKER_00That was ugly.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna do it.
SPEAKER_01Come on, we're who's who's your who's your third corner then? Uh who's the backup? Jordan Lewis.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Monteric Brown on the outside, Jordan Lewis, uh nickel, and then you have Travis Hunter, Jarian Jones swapping uh whenever Travis Hunter has to go to office.
SPEAKER_01I guess I guess you put Jordan Lewis outside. That's a good point. But but we've seen we've got that you got nuns. But we've seen Monteric Brown. Martyric Brown's solid against uh number twos, unless they're like T. Higgins. Um but you like you want Travis Hunter to be able to guard that alpha, the Jamar Chase, the the AJ Browns, the Nico Collins. Like those guys always toast us when you're talking about all the other kind of solid players that we have.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, the issue with Monteric is he I think he is a really good zone guy. He's just not quick enough to play man. He's always a step behind. He's always close, but not quite there. Yeah. Whereas in zone, he's a little he I like how jumpy he is. And I'm a huge like cornerback safety. Uh we play way too far back, and they talked about this in the offseason. I really hope they fix that because people were taking advantage of us playing five to six yards back, and they were just kept hitting lower uh passes, which makes it harder to sack because you're throwing a lot of three-yard passes. They need a scoot up, and Monteric Brown is very good at jumping the passes. So I would like to see that aggression to stay. For sure.
SPEAKER_00And we'll talk defense in our next episode. Couple last thoughts on wide receiver room. Then we'll kind of hit tight end running back O-line fairly quick. Uh, want to give one more shout-out just because we're not gonna do like every shout-out, but because this is new. Uncle Jeff is in the comments right now, and y'all can guess. You know exactly what he's talking about. He's talking about Joey's love for Nathan Rourke. Unfortunately, not on the Jacks, a preseason legend.
SPEAKER_02But his brother made the 49ers roster.
SPEAKER_00There you go. And speaking of guys, Curtis Roar in the wide receiver room, uh, Josh Cameron, Baylor wide receiver, makes the team six-round pick. He is uh a red zone weapon. He had 19 touchdowns for Baylor the last two seasons. And then CJ Williams, the other guy, both six-round picks this past year, rookies, uh different style players, but they kind of round out the receiver room. But Joey, why don't you kick us off with a tight end room? Your boy. JT and I hated on him too long. Uh Britain Strange went from, let me see, what was his rookie season? 35 yards to looking like Well, I mean, he didn't really play his rookie season.
SPEAKER_02You had Evan Ingram in front of him.
SPEAKER_00It was uh it was rough. JT and I looked like geniuses, but Joey, you played the long game, never wrong, just early. And Joey has been on the Britain Strange train. And uh look, when the when he was out last year, the offense really struggled. He's a top five blocking tight end, in my opinion. Looks like a borderline top ten receiving guy. Talk to us about Britain Strange and anyone else. Yeah, but you know.
SPEAKER_02Um, I mean, he's the what would you say, quintessential uh tight end where he is very good at blocking, but also is just not a liability. He he's gonna catch the ball that's thrown to him. He can take a hit, uh is not scared. Uh like there have been multiple times where I was like, oh man, he's gonna be hurt after like him getting sandwiched between two linebackers, but just is built strong, takes the hit, uh, and exactly what you want as a tight end. There's been a lot of move throughout the league of going with this H back tight end, catching tight end, uh, which we had with Evan Ingram, and I think we have a little bit with uh Tanner Koziel. Uh I don't think we'll use that other than in the uh end zone. But Strange, I think, is going to be also kind of that security blanket that uh Jacoby Myers is when we didn't have Jacoby Myers, it was Britton Strange. I mean, a lot of times he was getting 50 to 60 yards, five, six catches, and it was just always right over the middle, about eight yards, get us either to a close third down or a first down. So I think he's gonna be really important again uh for Trevor to have that check down right there, always right over the middle.
SPEAKER_01So he played last last year 12 games, uh 60 targets, and he had uh 46 catches. So he was averaging about four catches a game and about 45 yards a game. And so to your point, Joey, I think he had those games where we really needed him getting those 60, 70 yards, three touchdowns. Uh, it's rare to see rookies um contribute at the tight end level. Uh he certainly has grown into his own. I think it's a great point about the blocking. He is a he is a solid tight end. Um he's not, I don't think he has like 800, 900, 1000 yard reception uh receiving yards this year. Uh he was 540 last year. I would imagine.
SPEAKER_02But you're you're not gonna throw it to your tight end when you have that big of a wide receiver room. Those type of like the Arizona Cardinals don't have a wide receiver. The Raiders don't have a wide receiver. Well, I know, but that's what I'm saying is they're quarterback either. They are the they are the spotlight of that offense of the Raiders, the Cardinals, uh, the Chiefs don't have a wide receiver. Like all these teams don't really have wide receivers, so they have to go with the tight end. Whereas we have a ton of wide receivers, so all you need is your tight end to be that oh, everyone's covered, chuck it down to him, get the six yards, move move the ball down the field.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's a solid room. Like I we said at the top, is it a top three, is it a top five, is it a top ten? It's certainly a top ten. I I would argue this three plus one is uh is is about as good as anybody. Maybe a couple of teams that we talked about earlier would would compete, but this is this is a pretty talented room.
SPEAKER_02With our starters, it is one of probably the best offenses with no holes other than the running back room, I think could possibly be a uh liability depending on how good Tutin is. I think is all it's gonna come down to. Is he Tootin that played against the Bills who look like an absolute star? Or is he the Tutan that got like uh two carries for five yards in a game? Uh so that is going to be is a huge uh question mark.
SPEAKER_00100% because we know this about Liam Cohen's offense, he likes to have a balanced offense. Even the Bucks, you know, when he was the OC there, uh they had an incredible year. Bucky Irving was insane, and we still haven't seen that level of production since Cohen's left. So he seems to be able to take these guys that are good to a great level. So that's why I'm a big buyer in Tootin, and I'm not as high on Chris Rodriguez Jr. I have two fantasy football drafts coming up, so I'll let you know what I do tomorrow. Uh, and then y'all are all in the fantasy football draft with uh our family on Wednesday as well. So it'll be fun to see who who gets the most jags on the team.
SPEAKER_02But I will tell you who Christopher Rodriguez is. He is Colbert from the Chargers.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_02He he is going to be your twelve yards and a touchdown. Yep.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02He uh he's gonna get red zone touchdowns, I think, and he's gonna get uh quite a few third and twos type thing running right up the middle. Uh but other than that, yeah, I hopefully he doesn't. Have to play more than that.
SPEAKER_01I'm still very high on Lequin Allen. Like I'm high on Tootin, too. Like I I like type Tootin. I I think where he's going in fantasy drafts is a great, great uh dart throw because he's he's in he's later, he's in that kind of running back dead zone. So you're telling me I can either get him or Jonathan Brooks at or Aaron Jones. Yeah, give me give me give me Tootin for sure. I think he's got a high ceiling. There's a good chance, especially early on, where he's getting 80-90% of the workload or the meaningful workload. Uh I do think they try to see what they have in Laquin Allen and they try to scale Tutan back. I I I feel like he'd struggle to hold up to an 80% workload the whole year. But um he got banged up a couple of times last year, too, I think. So well LaQuint's hurt, right? I think the drop if he gets if he gets hurt, I think you have a huge drop-off if if Lequin Allen is also hurt. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, I don't know if they trust Lequent or I they don't hand it off to him enough. No, no, no. And I'm but like from everything that I've seen in this offseason between OTA's training camp, he is going to get a larger portion of the passes thrown to him. Like every time a running back caught the ball, it was always Lequent Allen.
SPEAKER_00Well, he had over 500 receiving, and he's a beast at pass protection. So he is your perfect third down.
SPEAKER_01Well, ETN had 50 50 um targets through the air, including 37.
SPEAKER_02No, I know, and I think a lot of those are gonna go to LaQuent instead of two.
SPEAKER_01Well, then you're gonna see a lot of LaQuent Allen then because you saw a lot of ETN on on not even just obvious passing down. So we'd love to throw it on uh for like two-minute drill. I think you see Lequint on the um on on maybe even some some some change of pace first down.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I could see LeQuint being more of a running back two than running back three.
SPEAKER_00Um I think you see all three, which makes it hard for fantasy. Yeah, and which I do. Hey, there's a reason all of us love Coach Cohen so much. We finally get a coach that rewards people for production that doesn't care about they don't give a rip that Lequin Allen was a seventh round pick. They don't care that uh they just half our team's seventh round are undrafted. Yeah, they don't care. Like if you can ball, they're gonna give you production. So I think to your point, JT, I think the first couple of games you'll see not like a perfect share of, but I think you're gonna see maybe 50 Tutin and 20 Rodriguez. And I'm doing math on the flat, so I guess that's 30 LaQuent Allen. Maybe that's not right, but you know, uh a decent split, and they're gonna see hey, can Tutan be a Cowbell RB1 guy? Can Lequint Allen? I think their goal is those two to long term. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So uh in the last couple minutes, let's talk about the offensive line. I gave my thoughts early. I thought we could be a average to above average. I would put us in that kind of 8 to 12 range, uh, as far as offensive lines. Joey, you might have us higher or lower, but uh I like what we have. There's not a lot that I'm worried about, and I think we have decent depth.
SPEAKER_00I have a question, Joey. You're always our big O-line guy, which I appreciate because they make the offense run, right? Without the big boys up front. So, what's interesting, right? They've shifted Anton Harrison a lot to left tackle, and that's because Cole Van Lanen's been hurt and not been in, but say when he comes back, which I think we're getting close to, and and may we see that week one. Do you see Harrison left tackle Van Lanen right? Or because Van Lanen's played all five positions.
SPEAKER_02The Liam Cohen uh has already come out. Uh Anton Harrison is left tackle.
SPEAKER_00Which hello set.
SPEAKER_02Uh, and Cole Van Lannon's already come out and said he's actually more comfortable at right tackle. That's actually where he was when I remember uh first seeing Cole Van Lannon was that preseason where he was the highest rated right tackle out of the entire preseason. Uh he was an incredible right tackle. So uh I think you could have really good book in uh tackles. Pregnon from everything we've seen in the preseason uh is an absolute mauler, is incredible.
SPEAKER_00Uh uh the demo official.
SPEAKER_02The offensive line's already official. It's Anton Harrison. Well, I mean, it's not official, but Anton Harrison left tackle, Emmanuel Pregnon left guard.
SPEAKER_00He's got inside Scoopy.
SPEAKER_02Haynesy's center. Yeah. Uh Ezra Cleveland has moved to right guard since Wyatt Milam couldn't win right guard. They moved Ezra to right guard, letting Pregnon only play left guard. You didn't want to add a bunch of stuff of him moving a left guard, right guard as a rookie. Uh, and then right tackle. If he's ready to go, will be Cole Van Lannon first week. If not, it's Walker Little, uh, which is nice to have Walker Little because you can slot him kind of anywhere. He can play guard. He played a little bit of right guard last year. I thought he was actually better at guard than he was at tackle. Uh, but he's not a liability, I would say, at right tackle. I think he'll be fine for the couple a game or two that he may have to play while Cole is still getting up and running since he just got off the pupless like a week ago. Uh and then hopefully Wyatt Milam doesn't end up becoming uh Walker Little where he's just always on the outskirts of the starting lineup but can never crack it. Uh he's got I give him one more year uh to develop, and if he can't make the starting league uh starting lineup next year, then that's gonna be a bust.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So some interesting stuff to watch. Anton Harrison, I believe, is a contract year.
SPEAKER_02At the starting lineup with Cole in depending on how good Emmanuel Pregnon is, you could be at probably 10 best offensive line. That feels about right. If Emmanuel Pregnon isn't as good as we think, I think you could be around 15. Yeah. Uh and then if you get a bunch of injuries.
SPEAKER_00That is oh, oh, I think we lost JD for a second. Um but to your point, Joe, it is such a big thing where an offensive line, it seems like, oh man, that's a big jump if Pregnon's good or not. Well, uh an offensive line is typically only as good as its weakest link. And we saw that with too many years with Luke Fortner. It wasn't his terrible line, but we had the worst center in in the in the NFL, and it was terrible. And so uh Pregnon's gonna be huge as this rookie guard out of Oregon that we all loved. Like when we grade the draft, most of us said that was our favorite pick, an A pick. Uh a guy that some people talked about in the first round goes to us in the third. Uh, but what I like too is some little moves to beef up the depth. You made that move for Daniel Falele to get him as your backup guard. You've got Wyatt Milam as you talked about, maybe a backup, and then Jonah Mondheim. You know, Jonah. Mondheim's very on him. Like, hopefully, that's a long-term goal where Robert Haynesy continues to be center and just trains up Jonah Mannheim, the seventh-round pick out of USC, that looked awesome his rookie year. From snaps.
SPEAKER_02What I hear is the people who are really high on Mondheim think he could become starter by middle of the year. I don't know if he's that close, especially since a lot of the coaches have come out and kind of talked about during the season, it's not as much about development as it is just getting ready for the opponent. So I think it will take him a whole nother year, but I think it could be easily you see Monheel as the starting center next year. Um but yeah, it'll be interesting. I like the fact that they moved Anton to left because now you have a very good veteran next to Emmanuel Pregnon uh and Anton Harrison to help him out, and then you also have the veteran Haynesy also, so you have two veterans in between that rookie to help him, and as long as they can help him uh throughout the season, I think he he's gonna be great.
SPEAKER_00Love it. Well, we lost JT for a minute. Uh I I know he was joining by a hot spot and maybe some connection issues, but uh that's our offensive breakdown. So a couple more YouTube live comments, and then y'all comment in afterwards as well because um Long John Silver said JT froze on a picture that looks like he's running for Senate. Uh Uncle Jeff said it's all about staying healthy. He knows that he's a big Commanders fan. Uh, they went from one of the top hottest teams to um uh to tough uh yeah, and then but drop some other comments afterwards, Joey. You and I and JT will go respond to some of those on YouTube. We just love talking ball. Here's my last question, and then we'll get to defense either later this week or next week, and then week one preview versus the Browns. In the AFC, are the Jaguars the best offense right now? As you think about that, I'm just I mean, it could be the Jags versus Texans games are gonna be fun because you're gonna have one of the best offenses versus one of the best defenses. Um, Joey, you and I have been a couple of those, those are just some epic rivalries. But uh, JT's coming back. We'll we'll give him the question too. But Joey, why don't you what do you think?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, um I'm pulling up all the teams from AFC, just so I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Definitely in the South. You can kind of go division, you know, Texans, Titans, Colts.
SPEAKER_02All right, we got uh I mean definitely the best in the AFC South. Uh I mean the Ravens have a good offense, but I don't trust their new head coach at all. Uh who is also a defensive coordinator, so we'll see how good that offense is. Uh the Bengals are a really good offense, but have always been plagued by a bad offensive line. Yep. Uh so I think we beat them there.
SPEAKER_00As you're looking through this, JT we're debating do the Jaguars have the best offense in the AFC? So we wrote down all the rooms, it's kind of our final sound off.
SPEAKER_02Um I would have to give it to the Broncos, I think, especially since they went out and got Waddle. Um I think they already had a pretty good offense, and then they added an actual good wide receiver. And uh depending on if they can figure out how to unlock Evan Ingram a little bit, you could have Evan Ingram, Waddle, Sutton. Uh it could be a very scary offense.
SPEAKER_00Me and I take the Jags offense over the Broncos. I'd take Trevor over Bone Knicks. I'd take our wide receiver room over theirs. But again, I'm drinking the deal cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they have a better offensive line. I think their running back room's probably a push. The wide receiver room, I think Waddle is probably I guess I gotta give Waddle over Parker, at least at the moment. Uh Sutton is a lot of people think is good as just probably BTJ. I don't I don't know. It's probably close to a push as well.
SPEAKER_01I would probably go Bengals won.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Bengals have such a bad offensive line, though. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01They've they've improved it. They've had some guys that have uh that they've gotten, they've done some decent things.
SPEAKER_02On paper, I agree with that.
SPEAKER_01I think Bangles.
SPEAKER_02The people that they went out and got on their offensive line is turning out to I don't know if it's them playing at the Bengals, because I think it could be their coach. Uh he is Taylor. They are good, and then all of a sudden they get to the Bengals and then they play awful.
SPEAKER_01Fine, but I'd still take Burrow, I'd still take their Roberto Stevens, obviously. And Chase Brown is better than Tootin. So like uh at every single keep position. Who are you taking over Chase and Higgins? No, he I joke. Oh, I was taking Chase Brown. I think Chase Brown's definitely better than Tutin. He's at least proved it. Uh I mean he's kind of proven it.
SPEAKER_02He's okay. Um I think anyways Tootin could be Chase Brown.
SPEAKER_01You could project the Chargers with uh McDaniels coming over there and some of the the the changes there. I think you could.
SPEAKER_02But who who do they have a wide receiver other than Ladd?
SPEAKER_01They have Quentin Johnson who had a great year last year. And they have a decent uh crazy, crazy pull, but alright.
SPEAKER_02Uh Quentin Johnson goes undrafted in fantasy leagues.
SPEAKER_01He was first round pay, but yeah, yeah, no, I know what you mean.
SPEAKER_02No, I said fantasy, right? Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, this year he's slated for like the eighth or ninth round.
SPEAKER_02I've I've gone I've done two, and he's gone undrafted in both.
SPEAKER_01Shocking. That that is surprising to me considering he's slated to go in the eighth or ninth round. Um, anyways, he had 735, so he had uh essentially BTJ numbers last year. So uh yeah, you're looking at and I and I'm and I'm higher than some on the Patriots uh offense. Like they had a very easy schedule, and and so last year last year, not this year.
SPEAKER_02This year they have one of the harder schedules.
SPEAKER_01Correct. That's what I'm saying. So a lot of people are sleeping on the Patriots actually being good, which I kind of get, but I I think that they're they've upgraded at a lot of positions. Drake May is coming into his own. Um, but I I would probably still take the Jags over the Chargers and the uh and the Patriots, but they to me that is that next tier. I I would put the Bengals at one and then the Jags, Patriots, and Chargers uh fighting it out uh in that 2-3-4.
SPEAKER_02You're you're gonna take Romeo Dobbs and Matt Collins over our our wide receivers?
SPEAKER_01I'll take Romeo Dobbs and AJ Brown, you which you you left off. Well, yeah, I'd also take their wide receiver one. I'm not saying uh like uh just position. I thought we're talking offense here. We are, we are, we are we are, but I I like would you take Drake May or Trevor?
SPEAKER_00No. Trev again close. Like I would put Trev middle, tier two.
SPEAKER_02Drake I need to see Drake May against a good defense. That's fair. Because he's very bad in the playoffs.
SPEAKER_01I would also take Trevor over Drake May, maybe not fantasy-wise, but for just the the team-wise. Definitely fantasy-wise. Right now, Drake May is like QB three.
unknownThat's crazy.
SPEAKER_02I know it's crazy, but Trevor, I think, is about to have over 4,300 yards and a ton of touchdowns. You know, plus rushing.
SPEAKER_01You guys are taking the overs on everybody except for uh Myers.
SPEAKER_00JT and Long John Silver, uh, Ryan Richoby Myers. Hey, I mean, he was the hot hand at the end of the of the day. Well, I think we hit about an hour, so we'll probably call it here. Uh, but hey, this was a ton of fun. I think we're gonna definitely do it again where we pop back on live and uh we'll try to give more of a heads up in terms of on X when we'll do this. And uh again, jump in the comments, respond there. Uh make sure that we feel scary. We'll try to interact a bunch. Let us know where do where do the Jags rank offensively uh in the AFC. But uh we'll be back soon to break down the defense, won't be quite as exciting, but still massively important. So we're gonna sound off as we always do, as true Jaguars fans.
